VIDA San Antonio Celebrates Three Years of Growth

June 30, 2025

This June, the VIDA San Antonio community gathered at Ana Park to celebrate three years since welcoming its first residents. With smashburgers and paletas, waterslides, temporary tattoos, and balloon art, there was something for everyone to enjoy while connecting with their neighbors.

From Vision to Reality: VIDA San Antonio

In its first three years, VIDA San Antonio has continued to grow, welcoming families and homeowners who contribute to the energy and character of this thriving and vibrant neighborhood. More than 650 lots have been delivered, with another 100 on track to be ready for construction later this summer. More than 400 homes are occupied, and an additional 50 are currently under construction, expanding the community with even more residents who make VIDA a dynamic place to call home.

The largest phase of VIDA, Phase 5, is slated to break ground late this year, starting with 500 additional lots in what will become VIDA’s most expansive residential area. Two planned commercial parcels will add convenience and everyday essentials to the community.

Residents are spending time outdoors VIDAs five parks and the Madla Greenway trail. Running through the center of the community, the Greenway connects parks, homes, and future destinations, including the University Health and Texas A&M-San Antonio campuses. These outdoor spaces provide opportunities for families and neighbors to gather, stay active, and support overall wellness.

The pool and clubhouse is under construction and expected to open later this year, adding to the amenities offered at VIDA.

Housing variety expanding with first apartments, townhomes complete

Sitterle Townhomes at VIDA San Antonio

Earlier this year, VIDA’S first apartment complex, Los Arcos at VIDA, celebrated its grand opening with community members and city leaders. Los Arcos’ grand opening was a momentous occasion not just for VIDA, but for San Antonio as a whole—it’s the first apartment complex to be funded in part by an affordable housing bond approved by voters in 2022.

Additional rental options are in the planning phase, including over 1,000 apartments and The Judy at VIDA, a senior community being developed by the San Antonio Housing Trust.

Sitterle Homes celebrated the grand opening of VIDA’s first townhomes this past spring. Townhomes at VIDA are a unique housing option for the area, offering the benefits of home ownership with outdoor upkeep handled by the builder to provide a low-maintenance lifestyle.

Progress continues on University Health facilities

University Health Vida Clinic, set to open fall of 2025

A key component to VIDA’s vision of meaningful development is a partnership with University Health to advance access to healthcare on San Antonio’s Southside. The 68-acre University Health campus is currently under construction and will help transform the community’s healthcare landscape by providing access to critical services and opportunities for hands-on training and career development for medical professionals.

Expected to open later this year, the University Health Vida clinic is a 60,000-square-foot, three-story building that will house primary and specialty care services, along with the headquarters for the Bexar County Institute for Public Health.

The Vida clinic will include primary and urgent care, pharmacy, lab, and radiology services on the first floor; public health and community partner offices with meeting and coworking spaces on the second; behavioral and mental health services on the third; and outdoor areas designed for wellness activities and mobile service units.

University Health Palo Alto June 2025 construction progress

The Palo Alto Hospital, a full-service University Health campus with 24/7 emergency, labor and delivery, NICU, inpatient units, operating rooms, and on-site radiology and lab services, is expected to open in 2027. On June 18, University Health celebrated a major milestone with a beam-signing and topping-out ceremony marking the completion of the hospital’s structural frame.
