Michael Meek

Michael Meek is a seasoned economic and community development executive with over 48 years in the private and non-profit sectors. Following a 33-year career with the New Braunfels, Texas, Chamber of Commerce (mostly as president), Michael has worked with Southstar Communities and is currently community liaison for our Mayfair development. Michael has been a catalyst for more than 17,000 new jobs in the New Braunfels area. He helped bring post-secondary education as well as a major expansion of the civic convention center to the community. He was named by the local newspaper as Citizen of the Year in 2002 and Pillar of the Community in 2018. He was also inducted into the Chamber's Hall of Honor in 2010 and was named Besserung or Citizen of the Year in 2020. Statewide, Michael has served as Chairman of the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives as well as Chairman for the Texas Economic Development Council. Michael currently serves on the board of the New Braunfels Community Foundation and is a Senior Rotarian. He is also a Senior Opa with the Wurstfest Association, having been honored as the Grosse Opa (a.k.a. great grandfather, a.k.a. master of ceremonies) for the renowned festival in 2018.
